Active Now!

Ellen Reid SOUNDWALK is an immersive audio experience tailor-made for the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, free to the public, and created with social distancing guidelines in mind.

After installing the free app and downloading the Saratoga Performing Arts Center SOUNDWALK, participants can explore Saratoga Spa State Park, featuring the Avenue of the Pines, the reflecting pool area, the Vale and Geyser Springs, and more. Movement around the park triggers Ellen Reid’s soundscape -- musical cells which she carefully crafted to harmonize with the park’s landscape and attractions. The experience is guided by the listener: the path the participant chooses dictates the music they hear, ensuring that no two visits will be exactly the same. The installation will remain accessible in the park until June 1, 2022.

Land Acknowledgement
The team behind SOUNDWALK gratefully acknowledges that, as we gather in Spa State Park, we are on the lands of the the Mohican, the Mohawk and the Abenaki. Native communities have remained present and have thrived here in Saratoga in spite of centuries of settler colonial violence perpetrated against their lives and livelihoods. We recognize and respect the historical Indigenous inhabitants of this land, as well as Native communities across the Americas.
